a job as an apprentice at age 15 to a cloth dresser.He worked on his dads farm since he was little. Farming the rocky soil of Cayuga County was hard for his family and they often went hungry. Nathaniel Fillmore arranged an apprenticeship for Millard when the boy became a teenager.A clothmaker paid the family a small sum,worked him very hard. |
